March/April Catchup

This has been a month filled with great weather, a litte weekend trip and lots of outside yard and garden work! At the end of March Darrin built a cover for our new concrete patio. We had more cement poured at the end of February so we could make better use of our back porch as our previous porch was just too small! We also started a garden and have 9 different plants growing, one of which I am going to be "harvesting" already in just a few days.. my romaine lettuce and mixed spring greens! Everything is looking great and we have been weeding alot trying to keep the grass and stuff under control! We also have been doing just some general "sprucing up". It is amazing how much better your siding and trim can look if you just wash it! Lol! For Easter we went to Dallas to see Lisa ang Brian. My parents met us over there and we had a great weekend. It bites being away from family but is nice that my sister lives close to here now and we can get togethere without having to drive 8 hours with a 13 month old and 2 dogs! Last weekend we went to the Air Show on the Airforce Base where Darrin works. It normally takes him about 10 minutes to get on base from our house, but it took TWO HOURS to get from our house to the actual area where they were having the show!! It was ridiculous!!! People were cutting in traffic and just being generally rude and inconsiderate of others. If everyone would just wait their turn and not cut in line then it would not be very long for anyone, but people don't care about others and force their way in and if you can't tell.. it just pisses me off.. Anyway..on to more worthy news...Landon has gotten another tooth which makes for 5 total; 3 on top and 2 bottom. He also had his first sick Doctor's visit on Friday. He had been running a fever and had a snotty congested nose so I took him in. Turns out he had an ear infection... poor baby.. so we got some medicine and he is feeling much better. We took him to church for the first time a few weeks ago and he went into the nursery. He did great when we dropped him off. Didn't cry or anything but when he saw us when we went to pick him up, he started crying really hard. Apparently he would start to cry and then would get distracted with a toy or something and stop, then look up and realize that we weren't there and start crying again. But overall, I think he did good for his first time being in a situation like that where he didn't know anyone. We will probably take him again this weekend after his nose stops running! Even if he is not contagious I still hate to take him anywhere like that if he has a runny nose... it is just kind of grose for the other kids eventhough it could have been where he got it from!!! lol.. oh well. We went swimming in our baby pool yesterday. He now knows how to get the velcro undone on his diapers (glad I mainly have snaps!) so it did not stay on long but who cares..."It's my pool and I can hang out naked if I want to" is what I was told yesterday (by Landon) so I didn't really push the issue. :) Some pics of my handome Lad(s)...

Sesame Street Live

Landon and I got to go see Sesame Street Live the other day! I did not know how he would do and if he would sit still, but he did great and really liked the performance! Here are some pics of our fun!

Playing in the silly mirror!

Oscar the Grouch with my friend Amber's son, Ronan.

Love Elmo's World!

Little Outdoorsman

Landon loves to be outside! Now that he is walking he thinks he should be on the ground... which I do not think he is quite ready for mainly because he is on his rear just as much as he is on his feet which can be quite messy, but hey.. everyone needs to live a little now and then.

Here are some pictures of our adventures so far this spring!

Did I mention he loves to push a broom! :)

Helping Daddy Garden :)

We are One!!!!

Landon has officially made it past the infant stage and is tackling toddler-hood head on!

Around 11 months he started walking and is turning this house upside down! Just kidding... he is doing great and we are adjusting to our little walker. I actually like that he can walk around now and he looks soooo cute doing it!

Landon got to celebrate his birthday with lots of friends and family and eat about 4 different cakes.. By the time his actual birthday rolled around he was on his 4th party... so he pretty much knew the drill with eating the cake by then :) For his birthday party here at home I made a puppy dog cake. It was alot of work but I think it turned out really good (especially for an amature)!

We had our 1 yr checkup and he now weighs 22lbs, 7oz (50%), 30 inches long (50%) so he is growing quite nicely. He has gotten another tooth, making it 3 total but I think he is working on at least one more because he is drooling alot and sleeping a bit restlessly. Sleeping through the nights most nights, but occassionally wakes up in the middle of the night. The time change has kind of messed with our bedtime, but I think he is doing fine and is usually in bed by 8.

Well, now for some pics of all this celebrating!

As promised

I know several days ago I promised pictures of Landon.. well here they are!

On Daddy's Shoulders ( I don't know why this one is turned like this!)

Eating a snack.

Hanging out in the Wagon

So as far as developmental updates.. we are now 11 months old!

Eating:
Toast, noodles, Cheerios, crackers, Baby puffs, Most fruits, some in bite sized pieces (he loves strawberries like his Momma and kiwi!) and some still pureed, few veggies mainly , some meat, LOVES yogurt (even my homemade variety and thick Greek yogurt) and all other dairy products like block cheese and cottage cheese, anything off of your spoon, sweets (but he gets VERY limited sugar) and water to drink. I have tried putting formula in his sippy cup and he won't drink it nor does he really care for juice. So for now since he is still taking a bottle for milk, water in the sippy cup it is.

Sleeping:
Yea! We are now sleeping through the night most nights. Occassionally he will wake up crying really hard around 2 or 3 and I have been getting up with him then but for the most part he is sleeping very well. I am so happy to not have to feed him twice each night! More rest for everyone is very nice!

Moving:
Everywhere!!!!! He is a super fast crawler and can walk along the furniture and go from the coffee table to the couch without falling to the ground. I have also noticed him using the walls to walk instead of just dropping to the floor and crawling. He will on occassion stand by himself in one spot for a few seconds but it too scared to take more than one step. He can push the chairs around in the kitchen by walking and can push his walking toy and loves to do that!

Fun:
He has discovered he can clap his hands and thinks it is so fun! Sometimes he does not want to eat his food so after he takes a bite I will clap and he will smile and clap and he is much more eager to take the next bite if he knows I will clap and cheer for him (typical male.. needs to be cheered for for everything he does! Hahaha) He like to take things out of their container. I put him in his pack and play when I work on stuff sometimes and he will cry if the toys are all strung out in there, however if the toys are all in a bin in there he is ok because he can work on emptying them out. A fully stocked pantry closet = FUN! An already emptied pantry closet = BORING! Same for book shelves!
